WELCOME TO DALEK WORLD

THE HOME OF DOCTOR WHO ONLINE

ABOUT ME

Hello and welcome! My name is Derek Rushton, a resident of Mid Wales, Im now eighteen years old and have been collecting Doctor Who since the tender age of four!

HOW IT ALL BEGAN

My mother recalls i did not take an instant liking to Who, however by the age of four i was what you could call Who mad! I fondly remember those Sunday mornings when me and my dad would rise early and sneak off to the market in search of the Doctor Who videos i didnt already own, another fond memory is the Doctor Who bedroom designed by my parents in the early nineties.

It was christmas morning 1992 and, as every five year old does, I woke early and rarced downstairs to see what Santa has bought me. One of my fondest childhood memories and indeed of all the years of collecting Who was when i opened what i now know to be a Harvard Assosiates TARDIS video cabinet. I recall considering how it fit down the chimney as i crammed it full of my Who videos!

In 1997 my mother and I attended Manoptican97 in Manchester where I met many of my heros including John Levene, Nick Courtney, Richard Franklin, the lovely Elizabeth Sladen and of course the great Tom Baker, an experience i will never forget.

A year later I moved to Wales, mearly an hours drive from the Doctor Who Experience in Llangollen, North Wales. It was this exhibition which sparked my love for Dapol toys as they were the only toys in production while i was growing up, i visited the exhibition several times before its closure in 2003.

My love for this great series has only grown over the years and the recent discovery of Ebay has allowed me to add many a prized item to my collection. While my collection concentrates primerily on merchendise I feel, and would like to think, the addition of original props to my collection is imminant.  I am always on the lookout for new items including Dapol, Denys Fisher and am hoping to add a full size dalek to my collection in the near future.

You could say I was born over thirty years to late!

Finally i would like to offer my sincere thanks to my parents without whom none of this would have been possible.
